Temporary works,
treated as engineering
Alpha Construction Engineering Solutions is an independent temporary works consultancy. We work to one principle: the structures that hold up a build deserve the same rigour as the structure being built.
An independent specialist, by design
Alpha was established in 2016 to do one thing properly: temporary works engineering for major construction. We saw a gap — too few engineers treating temporary works as a specialism in its own right, and too many temporary structures designed without the rigour the permanent works would never be allowed to skip. We started Alpha to close that gap.
We're deliberately independent. We don't sell or hire equipment, so the only thing our advice serves is the engineering and the safety of the people working under it. For a principal contractor who needs a genuine third-party design check, or a builder who wants scaffold, formwork or propping designed and certified without a supplier's commercial interest attached, that independence is the whole point.
Fast, and actually buildable
Two things bring contractors back. The first is speed without cut corners — temporary works rarely arrive with a comfortable lead time, and we're built to turn work around at the pace of a live site. The second is that our designs are buildable. A design that's elegant on paper but can't be erected the way the crew actually works isn't finished engineering — it's a problem moved downstream. We design for how it gets built, not how it looks on paper.
Our deepest technical strength sits in scaffold engineering and overhead protection — the public-domain and live-environment work where the consequences of getting it wrong are immediate and public, and where experience counts for the most.
A small team of registered engineers
Alpha is a small, focused team of employed engineers led by a Registered Professional Engineer with over 15 years in the industry, the bulk of it in consulting. Small is a choice: it means a senior engineer is across every job, decisions get made quickly, and nothing gets lost in a hand-off between a partner who sold the work and a graduate who does it.
The practice's experience spans temporary works on some of the most significant infrastructure projects in New South Wales — metro and light rail, motorway and tunnelling, major hospital redevelopments, and stadium-scale demolition.
Registered, insured, code-current
NSW Professional Engineer (PRE0001102), Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ 24964), National Engineering Register (NER 3653410), and Member of Engineers Australia (MIEAust, MIET). We design to the full suite of relevant Australian and British standards — AS 1170, AS 3600, AS 3610.2, AS 4100, AS/NZS 1576, AS/NZS 4576, AS/NZS 4994, BS 5975 and BS EN 12812 among them — and stay current as they're revised. Professional indemnity and public liability cover are in place; certificates of currency are available to clients on request.
Based in Sydney, working across New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland. If you've got a temporary works package that needs a design, a check or a certificate, that's the conversation to have.
